The Westridge street-scape project is part of an initiative by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTC) to improve regional air quality and promote sustainable development. Funding was allocated to projects in mixed-use developments with a pedestrian and/or transit-oriented environment.
The RTC selected to fund the $475,000 project, in which Camp Bowie District provided a local match of $95,087. The endeavor focuses on the intersection of Camp Bowie and Westridge, and other transit connectors in the Ridglea Urban Village. The initiative includes: construction of sidewalks, enhanced pedestrian crosswalks, wheelchair ramps, landscaping, as well as aesthetic improvements. Construction is slated to begin in 2014.
